Legal Assistant, Part-Time

    Our client, a large law firm located in downtown Toronto, has the immediate need for a part-time permanent Legal Assistant to join their team! 

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the day-to-day requirements of a busy Partner and Associate within their practices 
    • Responsible for daily correspondence, document preparation and creation of tribunal and court documentation
    • Responsible for assembling and filing of hearing documents including but not limited to affidavits, motion records, mediation briefs, document books and books of authorities
    • Handle administrative details with respect to accounting, docketing, billing distribution and expenses
    • Monitor and maintain tickler systems, schedules and calendars
    • Liaise with legal assistants, other lawyers and clients on file progress

    Qualifications:

    • Five years’ previous experience as a legal assistant, preferably in Litigation or Administrative Law
    • Knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure
    • Successful completion of Post-Secondary Education, preferably Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk Program
    • Strong technical skills using MS Office
    • Very organized, strong work ethic and communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative and work independently
    • Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
    • Detail oriented with strong proofreading skills
