    Job Title: Senior Pipeline Process and Hydraulics Engineer - Contract 

    Responsibilities: 

    Responsible for overpressure protection, Transient Hydraulic Analysis, pipeline process issue management and optimization. 
    Responsible to participate in monitoring and reporting on the integrity of over pressure protection systems. 
    Responsible for the maintenance of the Liquid Pipeline over pressure protection strategy and supporting procedures and standards in compliance with safety standards, operating management system and regulatory requirements. 
    Ensures compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures pertaining to process control and over pressure protection. 
    Provides Process engineering support, troubleshooting, and optimization for Liquids Operations. 
    Identifies areas of inefficiencies or potential system hydraulic problems. 
    Documents recommendations through stamped engineering reports and memorandums. 
    Manages several different assignments simultaneously. 
    Makes decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex issues and without formal guidelines. 
    Uses their judgment to interpret policy regulatory requirements and draws upon past practice, industry knowledge and ingenuity to come up with a solution where there is more than one approach available. 
    Seen as the expert with high technical knowledge and experience. 
    Day-to-day troubleshooting of operational process issues. 

    Qualifications: 

    Relevant industry experience with the design of pressure control and Over pressure protection for liquid pipeline systems. 
    An expert proficient in the application of regulatory codes, design standards and industry best practices for pipeline operations in Canada and the US; 
    Relevant experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator for hydraulic modeling of liquid pipelines and related facilities. 
    Proven analytical, problem solving and technical skills; 
    Fundamental understanding of pipeline automation and SCADA systems 
    Excellent communicator, collaborates effectively with other groups to find optimal solutions to complex issues 
    Able to work and contribute in a team environment while independently managing multiple and competing priorities, 
    Self-motivated and able to work independently with internal and external groups, such as 3rd party engineering firms; 

    Education / Experience: 

    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent degree as recognized by APEGA; 
    10 or more years of relevant related work experience; 
    Registered with APEGA as Professional Engineer or Professional License; 
    Specialization in process control and hydraulics; 
    Experience working for a pipeline operator would be considered an asset.
