    Polymer Materials Analyst - 1 Year Contract

    Purpose:

    Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) is seeking a technologist, scientist or engineer with experience in testing and characterization of materials, and preferably experience in materials characterization by printing.

    You will join a world-class team of scientists and engineers and have access to state-of-the-art equipment and newly renovated labs. Your challenge is to support the analysis of multiple materials as part of our internal research program and contract research activities for external clients.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • The successful candidate will become a member of our Materials Integration Team which is responsible for materials properties evaluation and printing-related characterization of various materials formulations, such as aqueous and UV-curable inks of various viscosity liquids and pastes.
    • Experience operating digital print fixtures such as inkjet printers or analog print fixtures such as flexo printers is preferred.
    • Experience coating materials formulations onto various substrates such as paper, plastics or ceramics is desirable.
    • Experience operating instruments and interpreting data for materials characterization techniques such as colour analysis or coating quality evaluation is also desirable.
    • This individual must be able to function well in a team environment and work independently as required.
    • Other job responsibilities include literature searching and report preparation.

    Education Requirements:

    • College or BSc Degree in Chemistry or related
    • New grad to 5 years’ experience

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Strong time management and organizational skills
    • Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Analytical and systematic in approaching scientific challenges
    • Experience working in an ISO 9001:2015 environment an asset
    • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office
