    Chemical Engineering Technologist (Pilot Plant Technician) - 1 Year Contract

    Purpose:

    Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC)

    The individual would work as part of the Pilot Plant team to scale-up and commercialize new specialty material processes. The suitable candidate should have some knowledge of standard chemical plant work practices and be comfortable working in an industrial chemical process environment.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Raw material preparation and mechanical set up of process equipment
    • Assistance to the project leader to conduct Pilot Scale experiments
    • Monitoring and collection of data for experiments
    • Writing standard operating procedures for pilot plant operation

    Education Requirements:

    • Chemical Engineering Technologist diploma (co-op preferred)
    • Up to 5 years' of related experience
    • Lab and/or pilot plan experience preferred

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Knowledge or experience of industrial process control systems
    • Ability to be “hands on” in execution of Pilot Scale experiments
    • Ability to work well independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Strong communication, time management and organization skills are essential
    • Previous forklift experience is desirable
