    Computer Technicians

    Work location: Kitimat - BC

    Work Type: full time 1-year assignment with a high possibility of an extension to 5 years

    Work Conditions: 10 days onsite and 4 days off - Candidates can be from Vancouver or Calgary; All transportation from home to the airport will be reimbursed as well as any meals during the travel time.

    Salary (negotiable): for C4 level (21 to 22.5$/hr+ quarterly bonus of $500.00) & C5 level (23to 25.5$/hr + quarterly bonus of $500.00)

    Job description

    Kelly Services is currently seeking 4 C4 & 1 C5 Computer Technicians for a new project in Kitimat starting as early as September 2019.

    Scope and Deliverables

    • Deskside events assumed to be 8 hours per day
    • Network/Server “Hands and Eyes” support
    • Escalation contact name and number
    • Deskside/Server/network refreshes
    • Tickets to be routed from the Buyer or Customer ticketing system to Supplier
    • Supplier Technician will contact End User to setup an appointment prior to an event
    • Update the status of the call through to completion.

    Deskside Services not limited to:

    • Receive initial incident notification from the Buyer or customer service center
    • Incident source identification
    • Incident priority / impact validation
    • Incident diagnoses
    • Provide support for desktop Standard Products (as identified in the approved contract hardware and software list) at the client's work space
    • Apply emergency software fixes in support of incident resolution
    • Virus eradication using agreed-to procedures
    • Update the status of the call through to completion in the Ticketing System
    • Reload standard image electronically (via server or other approved portable media) if required based on incident diagnoses
    • If applicable, upon completion of the Deskside Support services call, update the asset configuration item (CI) information
    • Technicians will use Client credentials (as provided) to provide support.

    Install

    • Setup and connection of a new or existing non-connected workstation (desktop, laptop) or other hardware peripheral (monitor, printer, scanner, etc.)
    • Setup and connection of directly attached peripheral devices that are part of the standard configuration
    • Test the system unit to verify that hardware and software are functional with network connectivity, provided there is a working network data line installed at the location
    • Test additional hardware peripherals to verify proper functionality with the main system unit
    • Obtain specified device information (eg. machine type, serial number, etc.) if required as part of the Install process
    • Provide updated Asset data as required with in the ticketing system
    • Provide the client with basic equipment orientation (eg. Location of “power on” switch, etc.) 15 minutes

    Move / Remove

    • Disconnect a currently installed system unit, including the directly attached peripheral devices
    • Package the equipment according to specifications (if required)
    • Move equipment from the current client location to newly desired client location (within the same facility or between facilities).  Sometimes this activity is performed by a designated courier or someone other than the Deskside technician who is authorized by the customer to perform this work
    • Move equipment from the current client location to a customer-designated storage/staging area within the facility for removal/disposal by the customer.  Sometimes this activity is performed by a designated courier or someone other than the Deskside technician who is authorized by the customer to perform this work
    • If part of Buyer responsibility and process, wipe system hard drive(s) in conjunction with customer specifications and agreed-to process
    • Unpack equipment (if required) and connect the system unit and the directly attached peripheral devices
    • Test the system unit to verify that hardware and software are functional with network connectivity, provided there is a working network data line installed at the location
    • Test additional hardware peripherals to verify proper functionality with the main system unit
    • Obtain specified device information (eg. machine type, serial number, etc.) if required as part of the Move process
    • If applicable, update the configuration item (CI) information

    Add

    • Add to an existing system unit by installing additional hardware device(s) (eg. internal/external modem, hard disk, scanner, printer, etc.) and appropriate device driver(s)
    • Add new software application(s) or system patch to the client workstation
    • Test the added item for proper functionality
    • Obtain specified information (eg. asset information, license information, etc.) if required as part of the Add process
    • If applicable, update the configuration item (CI) information

    Change

    • Modify settings or configuration of existing hardware device(s) or associated device driver(s)
    • Modify settings or configuration of existing software application(s)
    • Test the modified item for proper functionality
    • Obtain specified information (eg. asset information, license information, etc.) if required as part of the Change process

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree or 2+ years of post secondary program in related discipline
    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant Experience
    • Very detailed and team oriented individual with strong communication skills, high level of professionalism as the employees will be dealing with Managers and VPs
    • Problem solver and exceed in a high-pressure environment.
    • Employees will have to have a valid drivers licence for driving between offices on the large location in Kitimat.
    • Employee will also have to do a drug screening initially and will then be given drug screenings through the year
